ROOSTER KITCHEN CHALKBOARD – THRIFT STORE MAKEOVER

I have always been on the chicken bandwagon. My taste for them in home decor has changed over the years, probably yours too?? When I spotted this rooster, I felt like I could give him a farmhouse makeover. I am loving his new look. This rooster kitchen chalkboard is welcoming everyone to gather around the table.

He was $3.97 and I felt like that was a little too much, but I decided he was worth it. I’ve noticed that Goodwill has really upped their prices. Murphy is sniffing out the situation. I think Murphy thinks this is Henry, my friend Gail’s rooster from My Repurposed Life.(You may have noticed that I found a chair at Goodwill too, maybe that will be my next makeover.)

How to up-cycle dated decor like this rooster kitchen chalkboard

Materials

• thrift store rooster kitchen chalkboard
• white spray paint
• craft paint - 2 colors

Tools

• paint brush
• dust cloth
• painters tape

Instructions

1. wipe clean with dust cloth
2. spray paint rooster
3. use craft paint and a chip paint brush to dry brush on to create a distressed look
4. tape off chalkboard
5. paint the chalkboard frame

Notes

• When using spray paint always follow the directions on the can for spraying several coats.
• For dry brushing dip brush in paint and wipe off on a paper towel so you don't apply too much.

TA-DA here he is, I’m going to be moving Henry Jr. around when I entertain, I think a rooster with a chalkboard is perfect for the kitchen or any room. What do you think?
